Privacy
Twiddle Radio works without an account and keeps as little as possible. This page explains what is stored, where, and why. Questions or requests: hello@twiddleradio.com.
Who is responsible
Twiddle Radio (twiddleradio.com) is run by the team behind Twiddle Radio. You can reach us at hello@twiddleradio.com.
What we store on our servers
- Plays. When a station starts playing, we record which station and when - no IP address, no identifier of you or your device. We use it to see which stations people enjoy, and our server tells Radio Browser that the station was played (their public popularity count).
- Stream problems. When a station fails to play in your browser, we note that the station failed (again without any information about you) and test it again.
- Technical logs. Our servers log requests (page, status, time, browser name) to keep the service running. IP addresses are not written to these logs; they are used only briefly in memory to limit abuse. Logs are kept for a few weeks.
What stays in your browser
Your favourites, listening history, volume, theme and filters are saved in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device and you can delete them at any time (Saved → Clear history, or clear the site data in your browser).
Radio streams and station logos
When you play a station, your browser connects directly to that broadcaster's server, and station logos are loaded from the broadcaster's website. Like any website you visit, these servers see your IP address and browser details. We have no control over them; their own privacy policies apply. Flags are served from our own server.
Analytics
We use Matomo, an open-source analytics tool, running on our
own server in the EU - nothing is shared with advertising networks. It counts page views, plays and how the site is used.
Matomo sets first-party cookies (_pk_id for up to 13 months, _pk_ses for 30 minutes) to tell new and
returning visits apart. You can block or delete these cookies in your browser settings at any time.
Where the data lives
Our web servers and database are hosted in data centres in the European Union.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to its use. Because we do not link plays or logs to a person, there is usually nothing that identifies you - but write to hello@twiddleradio.com and we will help. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
