About Twiddle Radio

Twiddle Radio plays a random live radio station from somewhere on Earth. One turn of the knob and you are listening to a morning show in Nairobi, late-night jazz in Montevideo or the news in a language you have never heard.

How the dial picks a station

Right now 34,374 stations from 239 countries are on the dial. A plain random pick would land in the United States or Germany almost every other time, so the dial first picks a country (smaller countries get a fair chance) and then a station inside it, favouring the ones listeners like. Switch on Somewhere I've never heard of to lean towards the places you have not visited yet.

The context panel shows the local time there, the place on the map and other stations nearby. Your favourites and history stay in your own browser.

Where the stations come from

The station list comes from Radio Browser, a free, community-run directory of internet radio. We refresh it every day and only list stations that stream over a secure (https) connection. Every stream plays directly from the broadcaster's own server - Twiddle Radio never copies, records or relays audio.

We also test the streams ourselves around the clock, so the dial skips stations that are currently off the air.
